“Diabetes Self-Management” Classes Scheduled for Howell, Ozark and Wright Counties

 

HOUSTON, Mo. – Persons living with diabetes or caring for someone with diabetes have an opportunity to attend one of the three “Diabetes Self-Management” classes being held in Howell, Ozark and Wright counties starting in March.

 

“Having diabetes does not mean you have to stop doing the things you love to do,” said Angie Fletcher, human development specialist with University of Missouri Extension.

 

Class participants will learn to manage symptoms, better control blood sugar, eat healthier, fight fatigue, lessen their frustration, communicate more effectively with others about their condition and get tips on making daily tasks easier.

 

There is no charge to attend a class. However, a minimum of 10 registered participants is required. The following classes are open to anyone regardless of their county of residence.

 

Howell County class

When: 9 30 a.m. to noon, Mondays, March 2 to April 6

Where: Mercy St. Francis Hospital, 100 US 60, Mountain View

When: 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Tuesdays, March 3 to April 7

Where: Ozark County Senior Center, 307 E. High Street, Gainesville

Wright County class

When: 10 a.m. to noon, Thursdays, March 5-April 9

Where: Mansfield Community Center, 205 N. Missouri Ave., Mansfield
